How to take a real break and why
It was a busy and productive Spring for Monumental Me, and though we already took a short break from the Thrive Letter we are taking a Real Break now.
How? Well… and who am I to be the authority on true wellbeing and self-care? I’ll tell you…
The path that led me to Monumental Me was solidified by a major career burnout and work-life crisis in 2009 and I have been building my way to balance in work and in life, and touting my passion for wellbeing, ever since. This past year has had many twists and bumps and really really tested my resilience and wellbeing skills and required me to build some new ones. So, while there is plenty of advice out there, a cacophony of advice, I am simply here to support you on your journey to that coveted place of satisfaction. From a place of “holy hell, what just happened and how did I come out of that even stronger than before?”
So here is my advice, it’s summer and you need a Real Break. So take it. Michele is on vacation and I am leaving on the jet plane soon too. Hanging up the Gone Fishin’ shingle and turning on my OOO automated email response. But how does one really take a break? It’s hard for most people.
So I share my To Do list for my Real Break:
Spend time with my loved ones
Do things I really love
Say “no” to things I don’t
Disconnect from tech and social media
Sleep as much as I can
And laugh as much as I can when I am awake.
Simple advice but also, as I said, really hard. Try it and share your Real Break stories with me when you can. I would love to hear them and maybe even share!
